Terracotta Blues Lamp base

Description

Handmade using white or terracotta earthenware clay, decorated with coloured engobe slips and oxides and finished using a glossy glaze. For purely decorative pieces areas may be left unglazed and finished with a wax. I work in small batches mixing the colours as I go, therefore sets may vary slightly.

For this lamp base I used terracotta clay. To create the body I pressed a slab of clay into a couple of plaster press moulds and some coils. For the decoration I used a variety of blues and some washes to create layers. I finished it off with a glossy glaze.
