Description
Handmade using white earthenware clay and decorated using a combination of coloured engobe slips (liquid clay that will fire and stick onto the body of the pot without the need of being covered with glaze) and oxides. Finished using a combination of an earthenware gloss glaze, (coloured or transparent) and unglazed areas which are sometimes waxed. To build this vase I used a plaster press mould, coils for the neck and foot ring and slabs for the body. To decorate I used a variety of greens and blue engobe slips and washes. I applied the paper resist technique to define some stripes. I finished it off with a transparent gloss glaze on the inside, leaving the outside unglazed and waxed.
