Description
I started by rolling out a slab of clay, being careful to retain the natural circular shape. I then started to decorate. I painted on a green engobe slip for the background. I then cut out a paper disc, painted on slips in a loose pattern, pressed this onto the clay and then peeled back the paper to reveal the design, (this is called mono printing). To bring in a contrast I scratched out a smaller more detailed pattern to frame the design. The outside is decorated in a number of blues to give it depth which I have left unglazed. I finished it off with a wax. For the inside I used a gloss glaze.
