Pink Flowers

Description

Large Earthenware clay platter, coloured with yellows and purples and hand painted pink flowers.

I rolled out a slab of clay and pressed it into a plaster mould. Then I attached a coil of clay onto the rim. I used paper resist to block out the flowers and painted on the purple background using an engobe slip. I painted on the flowers and finished the rim. On the outside I used yellow and pink engobe slips, fired it and then glazed it with a gloss glaze and fired it again.

My inspiration came from the flowers in my garden which i drew and stylised to make a repeat design.
