In the sun Pink Flowers Cup

Description

Handmade using white or terracotta earthenware clay, decorated with coloured engobe slips and oxides and finished using a glossy glaze. For purely decorative pieces areas may be left unglazed and finished with a wax. I work in small batches mixing the colours as I go, therefore sets may vary slightly.

I rolled out a slab of clay, cut out the body and base using a card template and made the form. To decorate i used brushwork for the green and flowers. For the sun i used a sponge and for the linear dark green detail i applied the edging technique.

My inspiration was my daughter. She asked me for a cup that suited her and so i went for soft, sunny and joyful.
