Green n Blue wash Cup

Description

Handmade using white or terracotta earthenware clay, decorated with coloured engobe slips and oxides and finished using a glossy glaze. For purely decorative pieces areas may be left unglazed and finished with a wax. I work in small batches mixing the colours as I go, therefore sets may vary slightly.

I rolled out a slab of clay, cut out the body and base using a card template and made the form. To decorate I used coloured washes loosely applied and dribbled. I applied a sgraffitto pattern around the rim for contrast.

My inspiration was play in watercolours.
