Description
I started by rolling out a slab of clay, then pressed it into a plaster mould and attached a coiled rim. To decorate I used a number of engobe slips. I masked out the baubles by using a paper resist technique, I then painted on the grey background. I used yellow to fill in. I scratched through the purple to reveal the white clay body underneath. This technique is called sgraffitto. I used a thicker version of a white slip to make a slightly raised pattern on the rim. The outside is decorated with coloured engobe slips. I used a gloss glaze to finish.
My inspiration came from “All things Christmas”.
