Description
I rolled out a slab of clay and then cut out three pieces, the front, back and side (which doubles up as the base). To construct I used thick slip,(liquid clay) to “glue” the pieces together. To decorate I used coloured engobe slips to represent a stylised version of a Blue Tit. Some parts are glazed using a transparent gloss glaze, others have been left unglazed. The inside has been glazed with a navy blue speckle gloss glaze.
My inspiration came from the common garden birds of Britain. In this case the Blue Tit.
My mum would spend hours looking out the window into the garden watching the birds. This is an ode to her and the joy it gave her.
