Description
I rolled ore a slab of clay and cut out three pieces, the front, back and the side piece, which also doubles up as the base. I then constructed the pot using thick slip,(liquid clay) to “glue” the pieces together. Once constructed I painted on the black engobe slip and scratched out the detail. The beak is coloured with a honey coloured gloss glaze, as is the inside of the slab pot.
My inspiration came from common garden birds you find in Britain.
My mum would spend hours looking out the window into the garden watching the birds. This is an ode to her and the joy it gave her.
