Almond Blossom Fruit Bowl

Description

Handmade using white or terracotta earthenware clay, decorated with coloured engobe slips and oxides and finished using a glossy glaze. For purely decorative pieces areas may be left unglazed and finished with a wax. I work in small batches mixing the colours as I go, therefore sets may vary slightly.

I rolled out a slab of clay, cut out the body and base using a card template and made the form.

To decorate i used a few blues for the vibrant base colour with a speckle to add interest. I painted on the blossom and stems with a selection of brushes to create a more realistic design.

My inspiration came from the almond blossom.
