Grape Hyacinth Vase (large)

Description

Handmade using white or terracotta earthenware clay, decorated with coloured engobe slips and oxides and finished using a glossy glaze. For purely decorative pieces areas may be left unglazed and finished with a wax. I work in small batches mixing the colours as I go, therefore sets may vary slightly.

I rolled out a sheet of clay and used card templates to cut out and create the form. To decorate i used several techniques including paper print, sponge stamping and brushwork to create a lively and spontaneous design.

My inspiration came from the plant growing in my garden. Such a joyful sight after the grey months.
