Pink wide mouthed cup

Description

Handmade using white or terracotta earthenware clay, decorated with coloured engobe slips and oxides and finished using a glossy glaze. For purely decorative pieces areas may be left unglazed and finished with a wax. I work in small batches mixing the colours as I go, therefore sets may vary slightly.

I rolled out a slab of clay, cut out the body and base using a card template and made the form. To decorate i used several pink and orange engobe slips in varying shades, painted on loosely with a brush and large circular shapes which i sponged on.

My inspiration was going with the flow and glimpsing flashes of colours which i achieved by layering the decoration.
