Terracotta Blues Vase

Description

Handmade using white or terracotta earthenware clay, decorated with coloured engobe slips and oxides and finished using a glossy glaze. For purely decorative pieces areas may be left unglazed and finished with a wax. I work in small batches mixing the colours as I go, therefore sets may vary slightly.

For this vase I used terracotta clay which I rolled into a slab. I cut out the sides and base, stuck them together and attached the handles. I created texture on the body before I assembled it. For the decoration I used a variety of blues and used a mono printing technique. To finish off, I used a gloss glaze.
