Large Terracotta Blues Cup

Description

Handmade using white or terracotta earthenware clay, decorated with coloured engobe slips and oxides and finished using a glossy glaze. For purely decorative pieces areas may be left unglazed and finished with a wax. I work in small batches mixing the colours as I go, therefore sets may vary slightly.

For this cup I used terracotta clay, slabbed and textured. I constructed the cup, attached the handle and painted it in various shades of blue. I scraped back to the surface colour on the raised ridges and finished it off using a gloss glaze.
